Quotes from the eighth qualifying session of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season.
Chris Smiley: “So that’s Saturday done here at Donington Park. FP1 this morning, the car felt okay, we made a few changes for FP2 and on the soft tyre, we were comfortably inside the top ten. Qualifying was a bit of a roll of the dice, to be honest. Q1 started dry, but with rain on the way, and we got through. Q2 was trickier, the track was getting wetter while we were still on slicks – but thankfully my early lap was good enough to see us through. Then in Q3, fully wet by that stage, we stuck the wets on and managed to qualify 3rd overall. Really happy with that, and it puts us in a great place for race one tomorrow morning.”

Dan Lloyd: “Just finished qualifying here at Donington and we ended up 9th. It’s not a disaster, but I’m definitely a bit disappointed because we’d been so strong all day. We were 3rd and 5th in practice and looked really quick in the dry. In Q2, the rain started to come down, and I made the wrong call by switching to wets, thinking it would keep going. Instead, it stopped, and that caught us out. So yeah, 9th in the end. Not terrible by any means, but I really felt we had the pace for a top three today. Still, it’s a solid place to start from and I’m sure we’ll be stronger tomorrow.”
