Chris Smiley: “Today started off really well when we rolled out in FP1, we had a great platform to build on from the the start and we continued to get stronger through FP2 and we knew that were there or there about.
In qualifying, the first run was okay, we only scrapped through into Q2 and Q2 was better but ultimately we should have been in the super six today, we had the pace to be there. We’ve worked really hard on the car all day and I’ve been driving the car hard. I think for what we missed out on the super six by and when we look through the data, we had enough to make it through.
Overall though, it was a good positive day, i’m delighted with our best qualifying of the season so far and it’s all to play for tomorrow.”
Scott Sumpton: “It’s been really good to get back after a good summer break and get back out on track. It was a bit tricky getting back into the swing of things despite doing lots of simulator prep. The sim is good but it’s not quite like the real thing.
FP1 and FP2 it was really about building up and gaining the confidence around this track, it’s very high speed out the back and into Barcroft.
I think we showed what we can do in qualifying and whilst there is still time to find, I’m happy with how today went. We are going to push on tomorrow and see what we can do tomorrow.”
